Family Manners Cal

HOW DO YOU GET STARTED?

Our adult dog Group Training Classes for dogs 20 weeks old and over begin with our Introduction to Adult Dog Training Package, where you will be given personal attention and a great way to begin your training!

**Please note that we are changing the format of our programs. The final Training Workshop will be offered on Tuesday, October 4th at 6:30 pm - you must be able to attend this workshop. The final Family Manners class (6 weekly lessons) will begin Saturday, October 8th and will be finished before Thanksgiving.**

Start by purchasing an Introduction to Adult Dog Training Package. The package includes:

  1. Training Workshop (for humans only!) - this workshop is offered 2 times a month and is a fun, 2 hour class that will introduce you to basic training skills for the "humans" in the family. Last Workshop is being held on Tuesday, October 4th at 6:30 pm.
  2. A One-on-One Training Session with your trainer: This session will be at our training center and will be scheduled after you attend the Training Workshop. It will give you and your dog the chance to meet your trainer, become accustomed to the training room, and review your dog's basic training skills. Your trainer will also decide which class you move to next.
  3. A training equipment kit that includes a no-pull harness, training line, treat pouch, and clicker.
  4. ONE of the Beginner Training* options listed below (you and your trainer will discuss the appropriate option for your dog in your One-on-One Training Session):
    • Family Manners
Our beginner group class for your adult dog! You will learn the basics in a positive training environment: Sit, Down, Stay, Come, Stand, Leave It, Walking Nicely on a leash. Class meets once a week for 6 weeks**.
    • 2 Private Lessons
For dogs who are not quite ready for a group setting, this allows them to get one-on-one attention and helps them become more comfortable with the training area.

**Consider your schedule carefully before starting/purchasing a class as no refunds will be given after the class begins. Private make up sessions for missed classes may be scheduled for an additional fee.

At Canine Coach, Inc. we do not promote, condone, or permit the use of correction-based training tools for the dogs enrolled in our training programs. This includes the use of choke collars, prong collars, shock collars (including for invisible fence) and bark collars.

INTERMEDIATE & ADVANCED CLASSES

These classes are a continuation of your intro training, and delve deeper into specific training skills for you and your dog.

Intermediate/Life Skill Classes Offered
Most classes meet once a week for 4 weeks and cost $120, except as noted in description below. (Minimum of 3 dogs is required for each class)
  • Leash Manners
In this class dogs will master walking on a loose leash in highly distracting environments. Heel will be introduced, with proper position, attention and automatic sit. (Prerequisites: Puppy Kindergarten or Family Manners)
  • Impulse Control
This 4-week class will teach your dog some welcome self-control! Teaching your dog to have self-control can be useful in many situations and helps your dog wait patiently for things that he really wants: food, squirrels, food, rabbits, food, toys... you get the point.(Prerequisites: Puppy Kindergarten or Family Manners)
  • Positions and Stay
This 4-week class will add distance, distraction and duration (stay) to perfect the sit and down introduced in Family Manners. In addition, dogs will learn Stand, and an emergency Sit or Down. (Prerequisites: Puppy Kindergarten or Family Manners)
  • Reliable Recall
This 4-week class will perfect coming when called from greater distances, and with greater distractions. (Prerequisites: Puppy Kindergarten or Family Manners)
  • Tricks
In this 4-week class we'll explore tricks from silly to practical! You'll come away with a beginning foundation of how to introduce new behaviors into your dog's growing repertoire. (Prerequisites: Puppy Kindergarten or Family Manners)
  • Heel
The next step after Leash Manners, you will learn more advanced skills on heel. (Prerequisites: Puppy Kindergarten or Family Manners and Leash Manners)

  • Mat and Boundary Training
This class teaches dogs to respect boundaries and to wait for permission before passing through doors or gates. In addition, dogs will learn to go to a mat or bed on cue, especially helpful during meals, and when greeting a visitor at the front door. (Prerequisites: Puppy Kindergarten or Family Manners and Positions and Stay)
  • Intro to Nosework
This is a 4-week course where you and your dog will learn the basics of nose work by teaching your dog to find a specific scent among boxes and objects; learning your dog’s body language when he finds a scent; and stimulating your dog’s natural ability to search with his nose. (Prerequisites: Puppy Kindergarten or Family Manners)
  • Rally Games
This class will meet once a week for 6 weeks (Cost $165) and be held outside (or online in the case of inclement weather). (Prerequisites: Puppy Kindergarten or Family Manners)
